London, UK — May 6, 2008 — Data Domain (Nasdaq: DDUP), the leading provider of deduplication storage systems for disk backup and network-based disaster recovery, today announced results from the TheInfoPro’s Wave 10 European Storage Study that cited Data Domain as the ‘top deduplication vendor in-plan” among IT storage users at European large enterprises. In addition, the new study also revealed that Data Deduplication technology is at the top spot on the TheInfoPro’s European Study Storage Networking and Backup & Recovery Heat Indices, which gauges immediacy of user needs and planned spending for each technology.
TheInfoPro (TIP) is an independent research network and leading supplier of market intelligence for the Information Technology (IT) industry. TIP's Storage Study details technology adoption trends and timeframes, management techniques, and vendor performance data for the Storage industry.
In addition, according to findings from the TIP’s Fortune 1000 (F1000) Storage Study, Data Domain scored highly on many fronts, including technical innovation, features/functions, product quality, performance and reliability.
The TIP European study also revealed that almost 15% of European organisations have already deployed data deduplication, while 46% are planning to roll out this technology by the end of this year. In addition, the study positioned data deduplication as one of the main enablers of the current trend towards backup strategies redesign thanks to its ability to dramatically enhance the performance of the archiving and replication systems.
Robert Stevenson, Managing Director of Storage Research for TheInfoPro, said “Data deduplication remains one of the hottest technologies for end users on both sides of the Atlantic. In our latest European study, Data Domain was positioned as the lead in-plan vendor, indicating it has squarely established itself as a leading provider of this technology.”
“TheInfoPro study shows how the European deduplication market is rapidly drawing level with the US market in terms of adoption of data deduplication systems,” said Beth White, Vice President of Marketing for Data Domain. “Data Domain has emerged as the leading in-plan vendor in this market thanks to our unique combination of innovation, simplicity, unmatched performance and visionary strategy.”
