Sybase Inc (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, has donated a range of Sybase software products to Hong Kong Baptist University which will enable students and researchers to develop internet/web-based and mobile applications.
According to Doctor Joseph Ng of Hong Kong Baptist University, data management and mobile technology are key components in today's world and Sybase technology will give Baptist University students access to the training and research tools that will be critical to their future success.
"For students to succeed, it is essential they get to use the very latest applications and have access to good software tool sets and solutions when they build their applications," said Doctor Ng. "Thanks to our new Sybase platform, our students and researchers now have a better idea of choosing the right tools and platform when they build applications and try to solve problems.
"Sybase is providing the university with software that will significantly enhance our education and research activities. Integrating Sybase technology into our programme will help keep our students at the forefront of technology, ultimately enhancing their employment opportunities."
The software donation includes Sybase's high-performance relational database Adaptive Server Enterprise and Adaptive Server Enterprise for Linux. Other software being used by the University includes Sybase SQL Anywhere Studio, PowerBuilder, m-Business Anywhere, Pocket PowerBuilder and Adaptive Server Anywhere.
